BBQ for the 1 in 4: Meet the Team

My name is Cade Hollier, and I’ve been a part of the state bbq cook-off for 4 years. As a BBQ event committee member, I am the organizer of the judges for the competition. I spend most of the day helping the BCA officials in the judging area, catering to the judges, and making sure all supplies are provided and organized before blind judging begins in a closed off room. As much as I love to cook and eat, it’s rewarding to occasionally sit in as a judge when needed to taste the delicious award-winning BBQ. But, the most gratification comes from knowing that we have raised funds to help those in need and being there for other first time husbands & fathers that have suffered infant loss.

I was once there myself. Being a new husband and a brand new father, and having to let go of the dream of taking our Ainsley home was a feeling I still struggle to wrap my head around. Not being able to control what my wife would have to endure and trying to remain strong for her as well as feeling sorry for myself for the daughter we would never get to take home with us is something you can’t understand unless you’ve gone through it. I’m proud to help back our community in my daughter’s name so that she lives on through our work.

Cade is a member of the planning committee for the Ainsley's Angels BBQ Cook-Off and is the father of sweet Ainsley. The event will be held on May 18th at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center. All proceeds from the cook-off will benefit the programs of Anna's Grace Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides emotional and financial assistance to families in the Greater Baton Rouge Area who have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss.
