Hey, my name is Allen Fontenot, and I am with team Ainsley. Ainsley's Angels has been a part of my life since inception. My wife Samantha is Ainsley’s Mother’s best friend and has been by her side through every step of the Holliers' loss and recovery. I have been fortunate enough to be a part of such an amazing group that has touched so many others. It wasn’t until I had children of my own that I truly comprehended infant loss and how it can affect a family. So many people struggle with a loss by themselves and feel like they can’t talk to anyone because many times, they haven’t announced it publicly. I have had several friends go through the unfortunate, but have been able to get them to council and eventually to the Ainsley’s Angels family. Ainsley has touched so many people during their darkest moments and helped to guide them to become part of the Ainsley’s Angels family. I am so honored to be a part of such a special group who selflessly commit themselves to helping others in their worst time of their life. Whether it’s monetary funeral costs, emotional support, continuously checking up on them or simply to be an open ear to vent to, Ainsley’s Angels family is there and sweet Ainsley is still smiling down on all the families she gets to help.
I have always helped with setting up the cook off and helped with gathering the judges for judging time. I will help serve drinks, check on our cook off teams, and just help wherever I can. I also enjoy making items for auction or recruiting donated items from friends. We have been able to provide some amazing gifts and monetary donations for this event which goes directly to the families in need. But I would have to say the most rewarding part is bringing new people to our event and watching them fall in love with what is going on. It's such a great time to see everyone so happy while celebrating sometimes a dark memorial; its amazing to see all of our angels pouring through everyone from heaven.
Allen is a member of the planning committee for the Ainsley's Angels BBQ Cook-Off which will be held on May 18th at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center. All proceeds from the cook-off will benefit the programs of Anna's Grace Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides emotional and financial assistance to families in the Greater Baton Rouge Area who have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss.
